The head was removed from the original, broken handle and cleaned of dirt and rust and then polished. It was rehung on a new flame-sealed hickory handle. The handle has been hand sanded and treated with orange oil and beeswax to help preserve the strength and integrity of the handle and bring out the natural character inherent in the wood.
